Category: interpretationThe text below is written by Elaine to a TripAdvisor company.
PERTH
I live in Perth and yes, it’s hot!
The biggest difference between Perth and other major centres in Australia is that it STAYS hot
for far longer. It can be unrelenting and summer seems to last FOREVER!
Starting in December, it can still be uncomfortably hot in April, although February is definitely
the worst. We recently had more than a week over 40⁰ every day.
Yes, we have the luxury or air-conditioning but you still have to live your life around being
indoors all the time so that it’s bearable. I own horses, so have to spend a fair bit of time
outside and trust me, it just wears you out!
Winter isn’t even a proper winter as temperatures are very mild and if it does rain, it’s seldom
to any extent. The only people who enjoy the heat are those crazy enough to roast themselves
on our lovely sandy beaches, which has earned WA the title of ‘Skin Cancer Capital of the World’.
If you are planning on visiting, come between May and November when the weather is at its
most pleasant. Perth is a wonderful place but is best avoided during summer, unless you enjoy
sunburn and sweat.
